Jeff Berger, Pastor
Jeff Berger joined the St. John’s family in 2016. As Pastor, he serves as St. John’s primary preacher while developing strategic vision in consultation with the Ministry Council. Jeff is passionate about preaching God’s Word with integrity and creativity. His desire is to help children, youth, and adults understand and apply God’s Word in everyday living as they grow in their relationship with Jesus.
In addition to serving at St. John’s, Jeff is also a part-time Tour Director with Bob Neff Tours in Lancaster, PA, where he leads both one-day tours and overnight tours throughout the United States.
Before coming to St. John’s, Jeff was a Regional Manager with Operation Christmas Child from 2013-2016 – where he recruited, selected, trained, and encouraged volunteer leaders to help share the love and good news of Jesus with children around the world through shoebox gifts. He was the Youth Pastor at Mohn’s Hill Evangelical Congregational Church from 1994-2013 – during which time he spoke to thousands of youth and youth leaders across the country at various workcamps, retreats, conferences, summer camps, and other special events.
In addition to his full-time ministry positions, Jeff was a Board of Directors member (10 years) and a volunteer Junior High Camp director (22 years) at Twin Pines Camp near Stroudsburg, PA, and he was an Ambassador (16 years) with Group Publishing in Loveland, CO.
Jeff was licensed to preach in the Evangelical Congregational Church in 1993 and was ordained as an elder in 2000. He graduated from Evangelical Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree in Christian Education in 1999 and from Millersville University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary English Education in 1992. He put his faith in Christ as a child at Twin Pines Camp. He lives in Palmyra and loves traveling, the beach, drum corps, Disney parks, and the Dallas Cowboys.
